The Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame Inc. officially announced its inductees for 2011 at their Annual General Meeting on April 6, 2011. The two individuals judged to have made a significant and lasting contribution to agriculture in Manitoba during their lifetime are:
A formal Induction Ceremony to recognize these individuals will take place at 1:30 p.m. at the William Glesby Centre in Portage la Prairie, on July 21, 2011.
The Red River Exhibition Foundation Inc. is accepting applications for scholarships. The application deadline is 4:30 p.m., Friday, May 13, 2011.
I am pleased to report that our Harvest Gala proved to be successful beyond the wildest dreams of the dinner committee. Approximately 350 people attended the banquet in the Viscount Gort Hotel in Winnipeg. As a result of the generous support of both sponsors and participants the Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame (MAHF) has been able to endow $21,000 to support a $1,000 scholarship to be awarded annually to a worthy student studying in the field of Agriculture or Human Ecology. This scholarship, to be administered by the Red River Exhibition Foundation, will be presented in the name of the Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame. The remaining funds will go towards the operating expenses of the MAHF.
The Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame (MAHF) and the Red River Exhibition Association (RREA) have joined forces to host a second gala harvest banquet to recognize and honour all current and past MAHF Inductees and RREA’s Farm Families of the Year.
